The story, Without Fail, starts off as Reacher drifts in Atlantic City as driver of a car he hitched a lift in way back in California. Unbeknown to him is is being tracked by the head of security for the newly elected Vice-President of the USA. The Vice-President is being threatened with assasination and the lady in charge of his security from the Secret Service, turns to Reacher, brother of her earlier lover, for help.

Reacher accepts her offer and recruits Neagley, a former colleague to help him. The action moves backwards and forwards across the USA as the plot unfolds and more threats are made against the Vice-President. Reacher starts to make progress as the FBI become involved but then is badly shaken as someone in the team is killed. Reacher realizes that the FBI pursuing the wrong line and that he will have to confront the Vice-President with questions to solve the case. These questions reveal the identities of the perpentrators and sets Reacher on the path to eliminating the threat to the Vice-President.

This is another good story in the Reacher ‘take no prisoners’ method of crime fighting. Reacher is dangerous and it is best not to be the ‘bad guy’ when he is around.

Family, the prayers of so many friends and strangers, and trust in God are what got them through this experience-and having survived, they have no doubt that they can persevere in any situation as long as those three things are in their lives. Though their story is filled with many incredible twists and turns, they never lost focus on what was important: bringing Elizabeth home.
